Perception through Action: Humboldt fellows visit the Rolfslab

As part of an outreach event for fellows of the Humboldt Foundation, we recently hosted a lab tour titled “Perception through Action: How Vision Works in the Active Observer.” Following a welcome address by Martin, guests explored a series of interactive demonstrations showcasing current research on active vision and the relationship between perception, cognition, and action. The demonstrations included a gaze-contingent drawing task by Inchara and Ben, a dynamic gaze visualization demo by Jan, a demonstration of high-speed visual display techniques using the lab’s specialized projection systems by Martin, and a visual attention experiment by Nina. We greatly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the Humboldt fellows and to share some of the methods and ideas that drive our research.
